Bvlgari takes the centre stage at Baselworld 2016

The Rome-based luxury Maison set new world record on extra-thin minute repeater, announced partnership with MasterCard and Wisekey, and launched the feminine classic Serpenti Incantati at Baselworld 2016

On the 16th of March 2016 in Basel, Switzerland, in conjunction with the Baselworld 2016, the highly renowned jewellery and watch company, Bvlgari, took the limelight as it opened the exhibition with the newest thinnest minute repeater in the world: The Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater.

The record-breaking extra-thin chiming watch was presented to the press alongside Serpenti Incantati Tourbillon Lumière, the new expression of the brand’s sign and symbol highlighting the blend of Haute Joaillerie and Haute Horlogerie. On one hand, the product presentations also paved the way for the announcement of the company’s latest collaboration on the high technology side.

Jean-Christophe Babin, Chief Executive Office of Bvlgari, announced that MasterCard contactless payment capability will be from now embedded within the first-ever “intelligent mechanical luxury watch” – the Bvlgari Diagono Magn@sium. This innovation comes one year after the presentation at Baselworld 2015 of the innovative luxury watch, which Bvlgari has now fully developed and industrialized for a potential market introduction before the end of the year.

Also at the special media gathering, Jean-Christophe Babin and Guido Terreni, Managing Director of Bvlgari Horlogerie, were joined by two special guests: Actor Luke Evans, Bvlgari’s exclusive Brand Ambassador for Watches, and friend of the brand Olga Kurylenko.
