Chopard incites action on the Red Carpet 2015

The incredible love story between Chopard and the film-making industry continued underneath a warm Mediterranean sky with a dazzling array of Haute Joaillerie. Composed of 68 one-of-a-kind creations, the Red Carpet collection breathed unrivalled sophistication and glamour into the star-studded Cannes Film Festival in May, 2015

Official Partner of the Cannes Film Festival since 1998, Chopard continues to play an active role in the globally televised annual event of the movie-making industry. Caroline Scheufele, Chopard Co-President and Artistic Director, has worked tirelessly to make the Geneva-based Maison an indispensable element of worldwide cinema’s major gathering, as each year, the brand pays tribute to the beauty of actresses by dedicating to them yet another extraordinary Haute Joaillerie collection, aptly named the Red Carpet.

Covering the steps of the Palais des Festivals is the illustrious Red Carpet that has seen many glamorous Jimmy Choo heels and buffed pedicures in its time, and each year the Carpet becomes a backdrop for breath-taking Haute Joaillerie creations that are unveiled on the long, tanned limbs of celebrities. This year, the Red Carpet welcomed the 68th edition of the Festival, which meant that no less than 68 one-of-a-kind pieces eloquently showcased the talent and expertise of the Geneva-based company on La Croisette. The magic of the Red Carpet collection featured lace ribbons and magical colours to stir an array of warm emotions. Chopard’s amazing range of expertise in the artistic crafts were showcased under the flash photography of the paparazzi, where traditional techniques and avant-garde technologies merged in giving rise to spectacular Haute Joaillerie creations that could only be from Chopard.

In preparation for the event that is reserved for film industry professionals, Chopard has rolled out a new development in the form of the Green Carpet collection, where jewellery pieces are crafted from 100% Fairmined 18 carat gold – effectively matching ethics with aesthetics. The gold harvested from mines is carried out by employees who are kept in satisfactory working conditions, making Chopard the only brand to step up to the new initiative and ensure basic human rights are maintained. This year, in honour of the 60th anniversary of the Palme d’Or, the award given at the highest degree at the Cannes Film Festival, Caroline Scheufele paid tribute to this treasure from the plant kingdom that has become the ultimate symbol of the sheer genius of film-making. Just like the Green Carpet collection, the Palme d’Or is entirely made in the Chopard workshops from Fairmined gold. “In 2014, I decided that the Palme d’Or, the most prestigious reward in the international film industry, should from now on be made in Fairmined gold. This year, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Palme d’Or, we combined the emblem, our jewellery-making expertise and our commitment to sustainable luxury by creating a Green Carpet capsule collection inspired by the Palme”, says Caroline Scheufele.
