Louis Moinet awarded Guinness World Record for inventing First Chronograph

Guinness World Records has recognised Louis Moinet as the inventor of the chronograph and has awarded the Swiss atelier the title of ‘First Chronograph’, after thorough research and investigations for more than six months. By recognising Louis Moinet as the originator of the first chronograph, the Records organisation has confirmed that the chronograph was first invented by Mr. Louis Moinet in 1816, with his “Compteur de Tierces”. That year, Louis Moinet created haute horological history with his invention, which beating at a rhythm of 216,000 vibrations per hour, was designed to observe the orbits of the planets in the heavens.
