MB&F frosts the Legacy Machine 101

Innovative Swiss watchmaker, MB&F goes a step further in contemporary watchmaking with the intriguing new Legacy Machine 101 ‘Frost’

MB&F – short for Maximilian Büsser and Friends was founded in July 2005 and represents itself as a human adventure more than a running company; a human adventure with just a goal to create superior horological machines. Based around this fundamental idea, the brand only employs talented horological artisans, artists and professionals, to design and craft radical and original horological masterpiece for each year.

MB&F launched its first watch, the Horological Machine No.1 in 2006, which features four mainspring barrels connected in parallel and series, a tourbillon escapement and 7 day power reserve. Its latest offering to the horology industry is the Legacy Machine 101 which has been amplified with a ‘frost’ version – a traditional finishing technique created by Abraham-Louis Breguet which goes back to the late 18th century.

The Legacy Machine 101 was designed to embody and accentuate what is essentially the soul of a wristwatch; the 14mm monumental suspended balance wheel that regulates precision.  Also featured on the beautifully frosted gold dial are two pristine white sub-dials; one is the 45 hour power reserve indicator which indicates remaining energy levels, and the other is a larger disc that tells time using blued-gold hands that point to black Roman numerals.

The LM101 measures 40mm in diameter and is driven by a three-dimensional horological movement that is developed entirely in-house for the very first time, but designed by award-winning independent watchmaker Kari Voutilainen. The movement features 229 components and 23 jewels and beats at a steady cadence of 18,000 vibrations per hour.  The watch is protected by an anti-reflective convex sapphire crystal that hovers just over the frosted gold dial and turning the timepiece over, the display back crystal reveals the exquisitely hand-finished movement and coloured screws.

Available in a limited edition of 33 red gold numbered pieces, the stunning watches are now also offered in 18 pieces of yellow gold and exclusively stocked at Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. These ingenious masterpieces are completed with a highly polished bezel and lugs that frame the focal feature of the balance wheel.
