Montblanc unveils limited edition UNICEF collection

Montblanc UNICEF collection ” Limited Edition”

Reaffirming its partnership with UNICEF’s education and literacy programmes, Montblanc introduces a new collection of writing instruments, leather goods, jewellery, and a timepiece

Each product in the new collection is designed with a hint of UNICEF blue sapphire and an alphabet-inspired motif, celebrating the preciousness of writing as a force for good. The collection takes the iconic Meisterstück and gives it a new design inspired by the Rosetta Stone – one of the most significant objects in the history of the written word. Because writing is not specific to a language or region but universal, the diversity of world languages is represented in the design of the new collection by six characters that represent Roman, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese languages. The alphabet motif is interpreted through different design variations across the various product lines.

The Montblanc Meisterstück Selection UNICEF features an elegant combination of plain leather and leather finely printed with a subtle geometric pattern. These contemporary pieces have been given an unexpected design twist. From large leather bags to small leather wallets, the pieces are trimmed with a touch of UNICEF blue in recognition of this partnership while the vibrant blue lining inside each piece is decorated with the handwritten character motif, specific to the UNICEF collection.

In addition to limited edition writing instruments and leather goods, Montblanc is introducing elegant jewellery pieces for both women and men, including bracelets and cufflinks. One of the highlights of the collection is a pair of reversible cufflinks in a rectangular shape that allows the wearer to switch between sophisticated and sleek black onyx on one side, and engraved steel on the other.

The marque is also releasing special UNICEF editions of blue ink as well as refills for roller balls and ballpoint pens, a lined notebook with an embossed cover featuring the characters, and a special edition of its Augmented Paper.

The Montblanc Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum watch was chosen for the UNICEF collaboration, with two special limited editions being launched. Named after the Latin Orbis Terrarum, which translates as earth, the timepiece tells the time in 24 time zones in an intuitive way. Paying tribute to UNICEF Headquarters, the city of Geneva has been chosen on the sapphire disc as UTC+1. Each of the two UNICEF Editions is limited to 500 pieces and adorned with UNICEF’s logo on the case back. They are also fitted with alligator leather straps inspired by UNICEF’s unique shade of blue.

Montblanc, through its partnership with UNICEF, aims to help improve learning for over five million children. The funds raised by the initiative will help UNICEF to support national education quality standards that cover pedagogy, reading and writing, the learning environment, community involvement, infrastructure and measuring of learning outcomes.  In addition, funds will go towards teacher training programmes, as well as guidance and tools to ensure teachers have the knowledge necessary to deliver quality education to students.

The Montblanc UNICEF collection is available from April 2017 in Montblanc boutiques worldwide.
