JC Biver unveils additions to Automatique collection and a unique Desert Rose

The past and the future come together in a new pair of Automatique models cased in warm 3N yellow gold. Biver is introducing two new Automatique references that employ classic yellow gold in two different ways: one more traditional model with a yellow gold case and matching yellow gold dial and another with a yellow gold case and a bold carbon fibre and yellow gold dial. The maison is also debuting a unique Biver Carillon Tourbillon Desert Rose

Automatique
Biver first launched the Automatique in September 2024, with models in platinum and rose gold. Each case is available with a corresponding metal dial that shows off the material’s natural beauty and as Atelier Series models with dials made of natural stones such as sand blasted obsidian and Pietersite.

The two new editions emphasise Biver’s unique approach to contemporary watchmaking in their own way. Side by side, the two watches embody the breadth of perspectives that inspires Biver. They draw on traditional watchmaking aesthetics, elevate the inherent beauty of the materials used, and push boundaries to offer aficionados something genuinely new and interesting.

No metal is more ever-present and central to the traditions of Swiss watchmaking than yellow gold. For these new Automatique models, the marque has returned to its roots with a case made of warm 18k 3N yellow gold. The mix of a polished finish on the bezel and brushed finish on the lugs shows off the gold’s natural beauty and gives it a versatility that pairs perfectly with any sort of personal style.

For the model with a yellow gold dial, the material exploration goes a step further. The outer and inner rings of the dial are vertically brushed, giving them a soft look that shows off the texture of the gold itself, while the middle ring is circular grained to give the dial a two-tone appearance inspired by some of the favourite vintage watches. At the dial’s outer edge is the applied yellow gold chemin de fer, lending additional texture and depth while providing practical information. These play off the case itself, offering a true portrait of one of watchmaking’s most elemental materials.

Completing the package is a soft black nubuck leather strap with tonal black stitching and a yellow gold pin buckle. A yellow gold deployant clasp and yellow gold bracelet are also available on request for those who want to take things to the next level.

Like all Automatique models, these two new pieces might be time-only watches, but they are anything but basic. No detail is overlooked and the maison relishes doing things the hard way in order to produce exceptional results. The hands alone have four interior angles that must be shaped and polished by hand and the case’s concave surfaces seemingly bend the light around the wearer’s wrist. Each glance at the watch reveals new details to enjoy.

The Calibre JCB.003-C was designed and built from the ground up specifically for the Automatique. It utilises a micro-rotor for efficient winding and has a zero-reset mechanism for the centre seconds hand. Each component is decorated in the Biver house style, with the mix of decorations and finishes showing off the talent and skills of the atelier’s expert craftspeople.

Atelier Series: Carbon Edition
For the very first time, Biver is introducing an Atelier Series watch with a dial made of something other than natural stone. The Carbon Edition combines the warm beauty of yellow gold with the contemporary look of carbon fibre, giving the watch a personality all its own. The carbon fibre’s woven pattern shifts and reveals itself as the light passes across it, giving the black and grey tones an iridescent appearance.

This also acts as a perfect foundation for the circular grained 3N yellow gold ring, applied gold markers, and gold chemin de fer, which almost look like they’re glowing against the darker background.

The vintage nature of yellow gold and the contemporary aesthetics of carbon complement each other. The brand has created a neoclassical twist on the idea of a racing machine for the wrist, embracing the eye-catching colourway of the iconic John Player Special Formula One machines of the past. This provides a touch of nostalgia, whilst also creating something entirely derived from the Biver philosophy.

This is a sportier take on Biver’s specific watchmaking style that does not sacrifice any of the brand’s core principles or the relentless attention to detail that make their watches so distinctive and so special.

Biver Carillon Tourbillon Desert Rose
Biver has released a unique Carillon Tourbillon that pairs a mother-of-pearl dial with slim ruby markers in a watch that glows from every angle. From the beginning, Biver timepieces have served as canvases on which the brand works with the world’s finest natural materials, utilising both traditional and cutting-edge watchmaking techniques, and explores new design possibilities.

The Carillon Tourbillon is the perfect embodiment of this ethos, with the technical backbone remaining the same while stone dials, skeletonisation, gem-setting, engraving, and other crafts breathe new life into the archetype with each fresh iteration.

The maison’s latest creation, the Carillon Tourbillon Desert Rose is a unique piece that highlights the bright, high contrast relationship between these natural materials, all housed in a warm 18k rose gold case with a matching 18k rose gold bracelet. It is a maximalist take on an already impressive watch, showcasing the different elements that come together to give each Carillon Tourbillon its own distinctive personality.

The atelier is inspired by the past but is always looking to utilise traditional crafts and ideas in new ways that reinvent watchmaking for the 21st century, terming it as neoclassical watchmaking, and the Carillon Tourbillon Desert Rose is a perfect example of this approach.

Both mother-of-pearl and ruby have rich histories of horological use, for dials and markers, respectively. In this watch, the brand is combining them, with each amplifying the unique qualities of the other. The mother-of-pearl’s deep, swirling surface and soft white hue pair perfectly with the thin ruby markers and their scarlet colour. The facets of the ruby markers are echoed in the dial’s guilloché centre, creating harmony amongst the various elements.
