Independent watch brand Awake’s two new limited-editions – T-Rex and Raptors, 50 pieces each – of its Jurassic Watch collection are a tribute to Spielberg’s 1993 masterpiece, based on Michael Crichton’s best-selling novel. Each dial is hand-lacquered by a master artisan, drawing inspiration from the reptilian gaze of prehistoric creatures. Using techniques from its Sơn Mài collection, the layered lacquer captures the hypnotic stare of these ancient beasts. The timepieces feature a custom construction of indexes and hands coated in BGW9 Super-LumiNova. Each strap, crafted from scaled salmon leather sourced from ICTYOS, features a distinctly reptilian texture and natural sheen. Both editions host the G101 automatic movement from La Joux-Perret, offering robust performance and a 68-hour power reserve. One of the 100 Jurassic Watch sets will contain an incredibly rare and highly sought-after object: a genuine Carcharodontosaurus tooth, from a dinosaur that dominated North Africa between 93 and 100 million years ago and known as one of the biggest predators ever recorded. This 10-cm tooth, discovered at Kem, Morocco, will be accompanied by its certificate of authenticity.
