Chopard races ahead with the new Mille Miglia

The adrenaline-fuelled Mille Miglia race took place from the 14th of May till the 17th, where 430 superior classic racing cars tore along 1000 miles of Italy’s most beautiful roads

In celebration of this momentous four-day occasion, the House of Chopard presented a sporty timepiece dedicated to the Mille Miglia classic car race, for which it has been serving as partner and Official Timekeeper since 1988. Since then, the Scheufele family has participated every year in the race from Brescia to Rome and back.

The new 2015 timepiece embodies the legendary spirit of the famous Italian competition and is equipped for the very first time, with a Chopard in-house movement certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). Powered by a unique 01.08-C self-winding movement, the Mille Miglia 2015 Race Edition bears some quirky features, such as a 60 hour power-reserve indicator reminiscent of a petrol gauge, along with a flaming “Rossa Corsa” red dial that houses oversized Arabic numerals evoking typical 1950s dashboards, and a date aperture located at 3 o’clock.

This exclusive edition is available in a limited series of 1,000 in steel and 100 in rose gold, and comes in a sturdy 43mm diameter case where the dial features black and white touches. The watch is further enhanced by the black Barenia leather calfskin strap secured by an 18-carat rose gold or steel folding clasp. The screw-down back guarantees a water resistance of 100 metres and is engraved with the inscriptions “Mille Miglia” and “Brescia > Rome > Brescia.”
