TAG Heuer thrives under pressure

For over 150 steadfast years, TAG Heuer has faced up to every challenge, and surged past it to achieve renowned global success. The brand makes its own rules, chooses its own path, never compromises and above all never cracks under pressure, just like its strong list of successful brand ambassadors

As well as an impressive association with celebrated personalities, such as athletes, racing-drivers, supermodels and DJ’s, TAG Heuer has succeeded in solidifying partnerships with major events such as Formula 1, Nissan Nismo, McLaren, The New York Marathon and The Big Wave Tour, which is organized by the World Surf League (WSL) where the Swiss watch brand is the Official Timekeeper of the seven-stage event. These numerous associations serve to heighten the brand’s presence in the market and ensure that its Swiss expertise of precise timekeeping is never forgotten. For the year 2015, the brand has commemorated some of its ambassadors and partnerships with an array of new timepieces that are detailed below:

TAG Heuer Carrera – Cara Delevingne
In celebration of the one of the latest brand ambassadors to join the TAG Heuer family, Cara Delevingne has personally signed her seal of approval on the new special edition watch, belonging to the TAG Heuer Carrera collection, that is a bold representation of the ‘It Girl’s’ lifestyle. With over 11.3 million social media followers, the British supermodel is a global phenomenon, easily identified with her innocent-looking elfin face that is dominated by her thick, bold eyebrows. The Cara Delevingne special edition demands attention just like its namesake; where the watch is available in six various styles either with or without diamonds and in a leather strap or steel bracelet.

Crafted from a black titanium carbide-treated 316L steel case, that measures 41mm in diameter, the watch is powered by a quartz movement and features the functions of hours, minutes, seconds and date. The dial boasts a sun-ray charcoal grey hue with date window at 3 o'clock and faceted rose gold-plated indices that are pointed to by rose gold-plated hands with white Superluminova™. Whilst on the back, the case is stamped with the majestic head of a lion – the "king of beasts" – to denote the star sign under which Cara was born in August 1992.

TAG Heuer Carrera – Calibre Heuer 01
Energised by a TAG Heuer Calibre HEUER 01 Manufacture movement, the TAG Heuer Carrera – Calibre Heuer 01 timepiece bears an open-worked black dial featuring three circular counters that read the chronograph minutes at 12 o'clock, the chronograph hours at 6 o'clock and a small second’s counter at 9 o'clock, in addition to the standard hours and minutes on the dial. Also illustrated on the dial-side is the date aperture that appears at 3 o’clock, whilst the rhodium-plated indices with red dot detailing and red and white Super Luminova™ are pointed to by rhodium-plated hands.

The vast array of functions are housed in a 45mm diameter steel case that is coined from 12 different components, consisting of lugs, case middle, bezel with a tachymeter scale, case back, crown and its rubber moulding, push-buttons, gasket between the middle and the bezel and the upper and lower anti-reflective sapphire crystals. The timepiece is water resistant to a depth of 100 metres and is completed with a strap in perforated black rubber for a stylish, sporty look highly characteristic of TAG Heuer.

TAG Heuer FORMULA 1 – Cristiano Ronaldo
TAG Heuer dares to go green for the TAG Heuer Formula 1 CR7 Chronograph – a 42mm diameter numbered limited edition in tribute to a man who is already a living football legend and a three-time FIFA Ballon d’Or winner. Alongside the vibrant green detailing, evoking the grass of the football pitch, the black titanium carbide coated steel case lends this piece a distinctly assertive character. The chequered black dial within the case is illuminated with white TAG Heuer and CR7 logos that add a hint of eye-catching brightness to the sporty timepiece.

Driven by a Ronda 5040D quartz movement, the watch features three counters and a date aperture positioned at 4 o’clock. The chronograph is accurate to a tenth of a second, with the indication displayed by a small counter at 6 o'clock. The small counter at 9 o'clock displays the chronograph minutes, while the counter at 3 o'clock is for the current seconds and bears the CR7 logo. The watch is presented on a matching green and black NATO nylon strap that is an integral part of the design of the chronograph. To ensure impeccable quality, the keepers, buckle and pin are made from 316L stainless steel and both the ends of the strap and the buckle holes are laser-cut, with "TAG Heuer" hot-stamped underneath.

TAG Heuer FORMULA 1 – David Guetta
David Guetta has joined the TAG Heuer family as a brand ambassador and has already got pulses racing with the new special edition TAG Heuer FORMULA 1 – David Guetta timepiece. The 43mm watch is designed with travel in mind with its GMT function and "day/night" symbol, and is also the perfect companion for clubbing, with its striking black and blue theme on the aluminium bezel and opaline dial.

Driven by a 7 automatic calibre, the watch features a 24-hour display, with daytime hours from 6 am to 6 pm shown in blue and night-time hours from 6 pm to 6 am shown in black. It also features a second time zone, which is a useful feature for frequent travellers and a date window at 3 o’clock. The dial is home to black and blue hands and appliques that are enclosed in a black titanium carbide-treated 316L steel case.  The watch is water resistant to a depth of 200 metres and is completed with an impressive cuff strap made from aged black calfskin.

TAG Heuer FORMULA 1 – McLaren Limited Edition
To mark the 30th anniversary of the partnership between TAG Heuer and McLaren, the duo has released the TAG Heuer FORMULA 1 – McLaren Limited Edition in a vibrant red. “Rocket Red” is the tomato red hue inspired by McLaren's 1985 campaign, which can now be found on the aluminium bezel, which features a tachometer function, engraved with ‘McLaren’ on the 2015 timepiece. There are also hints of the colour on the flange, notably the number "30" on the minute track, a nod to this highly symbolic anniversary. And, finally, it is featured on the Rocket Red and Black NATO strap that completes the timepiece with the brand’s name hot-stamped underneath. Both the ends of the strap and the buckle holes are laser-cut to ensure a high-quality finish.

The Ronda 5040D quartz chronograph movement is accurate to a tenth of a second, and is displayed on the small counter at 6 o'clock, with the chronograph minute counter at 9 o'clock and the current seconds counter at 3 o'clock. These three small snailed counters contrast with the opaline black dial, giving an impression of speed as they reflect back the light. The brushed 316L steel case measures 42mm in diameter and is water resistant to a depth of 200 metres.

Monaco V4 Phantom
The Monaco V4 Phantom is black, stylish and almost stealthy in appearance. The case measures a perfect 41mm X 41mm in dimensions and is made entirely from CMC (Carbon Matrix Composite) where the 7 bridges of its movement are also in CMC. The subdued dial boasts shades of dark grey and black, where the hands are faceted and satin-finished in a Titanium Carbide Coating and anthracite grey SuperLuminova™.

Only the jewels, which total 48 stones in the movement, reveal discreet touches of red adding that much needed splash of colour. The ultra- lightweight Monaco V4 Phantom is driven by a traditional V4 movement which boasts a 42 hours power reserve and powers the functions of hours, minutes and small seconds located at 4 o'clock. The timepiece assimilates the first ever Drivebelt transmission in a watch movement, which was initially unveiled in 2009. The revolution rests on two innovations; the first replaces the pinions of traditional mechanical movement with a relay of five notched belts. The second innovation reinvents the classic circular winding system with a radical new design. Instead of rotating, the linear weight moves up and down along a circuit of V cylinders, mirroring the design of high-performance race car engines.
