1858: Glacial blues from Montblanc

Sporty vintage timepieces inspired by the trend for reconnecting to nature and the Montblanc heritage are characteristic of the Montblanc 1858 collection. This year, the brand is presenting a new blue theme in the line, as a nod to glaciers and snowy mountain environments

1858 Geosphere in Blue

Housed in a 42 mm case, the 1858 Geosphere is presented this year in grade 5 titanium combining blue and icy white design details, inspired by glaciers and ice. The case is of a fluted, bi-directional stainless-steel bezel, enhanced with a shiny blue ceramic and shows the four engraved luminescent cardinal points. The timepiece has two turning domed hemisphere globes at 6 and 12 o’clock, which are surrounded by a fixed scale with the 24 time zones and include a day/night blue indicator coated in rhodium. The longitude reference meridian for both hemispheres is highlighted with a blue line coated with SuperLumiNova. A second time zone is located at nine o’clock and a date aperture (local time) is located at three o’clock. The timepiece is offered with a variety of strap choices.

1858 Monopusher Chronograph

The 1858 Monopusher Chronograph features a black dial with a beige-coloured railway track, and two counters at 3 and 9 o’clock. Other details include a telemeter scale; beige-coloured SuperLumiNova numerals; and rose gold-coated, cathedral-shaped hands highlighted with a touch of beige-coloured SuperLumiNova. The timepiece comes in a 42 mm full satin-finished stainless-steel case, and is completed with a “Spirit of Mountain Exploration” engraving on the case back. It features the calibre MB. 25.12 that indicates elapsed time with a central second hand and a 30-minute counter, both with white-coloured hands contrasting against the black dial for better readability. The start, stop and reset can be activated through a single pusher integrated into the crown. The timepiece is available with an aged, cognac-coloured calfskin strap or with a metal bracelet.

1858 Automatic 24H

The 1858 Automatic 24H features a new complication that not only indicates the time, but also acts as a compass. The time is indicated on a 24-hour scale using a red-coloured hand coated in SuperLumiNova. This hand indicates the time and also acts as a compass. The compass scale is displayed in a beige-coloured ring that runs around the outside of the dial, with markers for approximately every 5°, and includes the cardinal points in red. The timepiece comes with a new 42 mm bicolour case made of stainless steel and a bezel made of a special alloy of bronze, with a special “Spirit of Mountain Exploration” engraving on the case back. The watch is presented with a matching black, hand-crafted NATO strap.

1858 Split Second Chronograph – Limited Edition 100

The timepiece comes in a 44 mm full satin-finished, grade 5 titanium case. The dial is crafted from solid gold, adorned with a gradated blue grand feu enamel, and is paired with orange and white elements for excellent readability. The glass has an anti-magnetized treatment to enable greater precision of the two second hands of the chronograph.

The Split Second Chronograph has a white telemeter scale that runs around the dial, making it possible to measure the distance of a phenomenon that is both visible and audible, like the lightning and thunder in a storm. The chronograph hand starts at the instant the phenomenon is seen (lightning) and is stopped when the sound is heard (thunder). The position on the scale shows the distance in kilometres separating the phenomenon from the observer. It is combined with a complex “rattrapante” (Split second) complication that enables the user to measure intermediate times without interrupting the ongoing measurement of a longer elapsing time. The watch is equipped with the Manufacture monopusher chronograph calibre MB M16.31, has a 50-hour power reserve, and is presented on a hand-crafted matching blue Sfumato alligator strap.
