Bvlgari inaugurates integrated facility at Jura

Haute horlogerie maison Bvlgari’s renovated facility at Saignelégier in Jura combines all watch exterior component skills under one roof

Bvlgari recently inaugurated its new integrated case, bracelet and dial production facility in Saignelégier, Jura, at the heart of the finest Swiss watchmaking expertise.

Bvlgari’s Watch Division numbers more than 300 employees at various sites. Although its hub is in Neuchâtel, the production of watch components had previously been spread between Le Sentier (Vallée de Joux) for mechanical movements, Saignelégier for both cases and bracelets, and La Chaux-de-Fonds for dials.

With a view to fostering both rationalisation and innovation, the latter industrial activities have now been brought together under one roof in Saignelégier so as to create an integrated watch exterior competence centre. This division dedicated to the production of all of the brand’s watch exterior components employs 125 people.

The existing building has been completely refurbished and extended to house the more than 20 many skills involved in case, bracelet and dial-making. This approach, uncommon in an industry that is often fragmented by trade typology, has the advantage of bringing together closely related activities.

Bvlgari has decided to unite them under one roof in order to promote synergies and foster the discovery of new expertise for both activities, the objective being to develop skills within a cross-disciplinary approach. The inauguration was attended by key stakeholders from the Swiss watch industry and both local and regional authorities.
