Horological stunners from Glashütte Original

Glashütte Original watches

Glashütte Original watches: The roots of Glashütte Original reach back to 1845, the year in which the first master watchmakers settled in Glashütte. They realised their dream of an independent Saxon watchmaking industry. As a direct descendant of their art, today Glashütte Original carries their vision forth into the 21st century. We take a look at some of the brand’s offerings…

Senator Chronometer Tourbillon – Limited Edition of 25

This world-first edition in platinum is limited to 25 pieces and officially certified as a chronometer. The tourbillon with a second-stop mechanism, zero reset, and minute detent ensure that the minute and second hands are synchronised, allowing the time to be set with great precision: the tourbillon’s rotating cage stops the moment the crown is pulled, and since the second hand is mounted on the cage, it also stops immediately. The 42 mm platinum case presents a manual winding calibre 58-05, with a 70-hour power reserve.

Glashütte watches: PanoInverse – Limited Edition of 25

The engraved ‘butterfly bridge’ and its rhythmically pulsating screw balance at centre stage seemingly float on air in this timepiece. The three-quarter plate is shown to great advantage; filigree foliage flows over the rhodium-plated surface in fine lines and delicate branching – not just on the upper side with the balance bridge, but also on the back of the movement. The manual-winding Calibre 66-08, with a 41-hour power reserve, is inverted in an original way and housed in a 42 mm polished- and satin-brushed platinum case, with a blue sapphire cabochon adorning the crown.

PanoMaticLunar from Glashütte

The PanoMaticLunar features a deep-blue handmade dial framed by a red-gold case; a golden moon and stars on a silver sky form the moonphase, with other displays positioned on the dial according to the Golden Ratio. The gold-coloured moons are turned out using a diamond-tipped tool, giving them their beautiful form and brilliance, while the silver, starry sky is the product of an elaborate galvanisation process. The timepiece is powered by the automatic Calibre 90-02 movement with a 42-hour power reserve.

Senator Chronometer

In 2019, the Senator Chronometer features a newly designed red-gold case with a slimmer bezel and more space for the silver-grained dial. The small second is at 6, the running time at 12, and the Panorama Date at 3 o’clock. Thanks to the ‘jumping date’, the date change, lasting a few seconds, takes place precisely at midnight. The easy-to-use date corrector is located at 4 o’clock on the side of the case, which houses the Calibre 58-01 manual-winding movement. A discreet day/night indication is positioned within the running time display.

Sixties and Sixties Panorama Date

Glashütte presents the 2019 edition of the Sixties and Sixties Panorama Date in multi-faceted orange, with unusual dégradé dials. The timepieces are powered by the manufactory’s 39-52 (Sixties) and 39-47 (Sixties Panorama Date) automatic movements. Developed in-house, they are mounted in polished stainless-steel cases – 39 mm for the Sixties, 42 mm for the Panorama Date – and completed by a brown Louisiana alligator leather strap with pin-buckle closure. As the 2019 edition, the Sixties and Sixties Panorama Date are available only for a limited period of time.

SeaQ Panorama Date

The SeaQ Panorama Date houses the Calibre 36-13 within a 43.2 mm stainless steel case. With a remarkable 100-hour power reserve, the silicon balance spring enables high precision – above or below the sea. The characteristic big date is positioned at 4 o’clock. The dial – either black or blue with a sunray finish – presents the hands, applied Arabic numerals and indexes in green or white, respectively.  A certificate documents each watch’s successful completion of stringent DIN and ISO standards for diver’s watches and the 24-day test. The timepiece comes with an option of three straps.
