Passionate red rubies and brilliant white diamonds, expertly set in platinum, are artfully arranged to pay tribute to two House icons: the sophisticated silhouette of the emerald cut and the signature cluster motif. Inspired by high jewellery timepieces from the Winston archives, the Precious Valentine’s Day by Harry Winston is rich with romantic symbolism told through sparkling gemstones that will shine for eternity.
Harry Winston revolutionised the American jewellery scene with his contemporary approach to gem setting. By freeing stones from the heavy metal settings of the time, he allowed their innate beauty and brilliance to dazzle without distraction. One of his favourite cuts was the elegant emerald cut, which is reimagined in the timepiece’s eight-sided platinum case.
Twenty exquisite brilliant-cut red rubies highlight the octagonal silhouette of the case. Arranged in a cut-down setting, the rubies can be appreciated from all angles. In addition to letting light seamlessly pass through the exposed side angles, this setting emphasises the great height of the platinum case. The octagonal motif is further reinforced on the platinum bezel, where the lustrous white beaded mother-of-pearl dial is boldly framed. Simple and sleek, the dial features hour and minute hands and an emerald-cut 18-karat white gold Harry Winston applique at 12 o’clock.
The Precious Valentine’s Day timepiece pays tribute to a distinctive design feature – Harry Winston’s signature “clustering” setting – with grand cluster motifs crowning each end of the case. Five pear-shaped platinum petals, paved with 152 brilliant-cut diamonds of different sizes, surround a fancy-cut ruby. Set above a bed of diamonds, the two heart-cut rubies are elevated to meet your gaze. This romantic piece is fitted with a high-end Swiss quartz movement designed for easy maintenance. The timepiece is secured to the wrist with a matching red satin strap and a diamond-set platinum buckle.
