Sotheby’s beats world record for Rolex Daytona JPS

History was made by Sotheby’s Geneva when a collector bid on Sotheby’s Important Watches Sale’s top lot, Lot 119 – a JPS model, reference 6241 with an initial estimate of CHF 600,000 – 1,200,000 and fought off 6 other bidders before they could claim it at CHF 2,238,000, setting a new world record in the process. The bidding battle, started at CHF 400,000. The final price achieved makes it the world record for any Daytona JPS model, the third most valuable Daytona ‘Paul Newman’ in gold in any references, the fourth most valuable ‘Paul Newman’ in any reference and any metal, and the fifth most valuable manual winding Daytona ever sold at auction.
